New president for Governance Institute

The Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) has appointed a new national president.

The organisation announced this week that Simon Pordage FGIA had been appointed as national president for 2016, having served on Governance Institute's board since 2012, and held the position of vice-president immediately prior to his elevation to the presidency.

He is the youngest-ever appointment to the presidency, but despite being aged 39, has a 17-year career in Governance and is company secretary for four listed investment companies, including Australia's largest, Australian Foundation Investment Company.

He was previously deputy company secretary for ANZ Banking Group and prior to that, head of board support for Barclays PLC in the United Kingdom.
